Alice in Wonderland
Based on the story by Lewis Carroll
Illustrated by Amanda Gulliver
This is the story of Alice in Wonderland that has been developed for a younger audience. They have taken the most significant parts (in their opinion) of the story and put them into a picture book. Alice still falls down the rabbit hole and has her adventure, but in a younger child friendly way.
The basic elements of the story are there, including Alice's journey through Wonderland. It has been deconstructed into manageable chunks and for the most part succeeds in its task, there are some parts that are a little disjointed. The illustrations remain as much of a feel for the original story as they are able and complement what is there nicely.
I would use this with younger primary students and could then branch off into having them create a version of their favourite stories or have a design and technology element and have the learners recreate scenes from their story (their own interpretations). With older students you could use it as an introduction to the original tale and have them predict what happens in the parts that have been skipped over before reading it.
