The Twits

The Twits
Ronald Dahl

The twits is a humerus children's novel about a husband and wife who live in a brick house with no windows so they can not be spied on by others. The couple has pet monkeys who are not treated well and they continually play tricks on one another for fun. Mr Twit plays tricks on his wife to make her believe she is shrinking whilst Mrs Twit plays tricks on her husband involving worms in his food or 'accidently' putting her glass eye in his coffee. However the Twits not only play tricks on each other but those around them which are descripted in the book. Students would enjoy this book as it is no way a relation to reality but rather a humerus take on the lives of the Twits. This book could be used in an English lesson to place emphasis on the use of descriptive words.
